Contact UsOur vision is a safe, secure and nutritious local food supply for all. This food is produced, marketed and distributed in a manner that enhances human and environmental health and adds economic and social value to rural and urban communities in the region.
Baja Arizona Sustainable Agriculture's mission is to help create and expand local sustainable food systems in southern Arizona that promote the health and well-being of the natural world and the people who live here. Our programs are designed to educate both producers and consumers.
Staff
Meghan Mix – Director – Meghan joined BASA in the summer of 2011. She is a native of the Pacific Northwest, and received her B.A. in Geology and Anthropology from Whitman College in 2004. She has a background in nonprofit administration, program management, and community organizing. She also has experience in the sustainable food movement, having worked at farmers markets, on farms, and in local food advocacy. Desert Foods Outreach – Martha "Muffin" Burgess. Ethnobotanist and herbalist who leads workshops on harvesting and preparing desert foods in the deserts of Arizona, Sonora and Baja California. Coordinates special events and outreach for the Desert Museum, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, Tucson Botanical Gardens, AZ Native Plant Society and Native Seeds/SEARCH.
